Start and Succeed with Optimism by Robert H. Schuller

To live God's dream for your life, you must have an optimistic attitude. Pessimists are afraid of tomorrow. Optimists never throw away tomorrow. You will need both positive thinking and possibility thinking to achieve fulfillment.

"Why," I'm often asked, "do I seem to alternate between positive thinking and possibility thinking? Is there a difference?" In my faith and my philosophy there is a difference.

It is the difference between attitude and action.

"If It's Going to Be, It's Up to Me: The Eight Proven Principles of Possibility Thinking" by Robert H. Schuller

Positive thinking comes first. It is a positive mental attitude that replaces a negative mental attitude or a lethargic mental attitude. Positive thinking sets the stage. Your thinking is conceived, but at this point it is still only wishful thinking. To go forward your mind must evolve from positive thinking into possibility thinking.

In possibility thinking, the mental maneuvering moves from attitude ideas to action ideas. We make a commitment to create ways and means to make the dream come true in reality.

Positive thinking asks the question, "Is is possible?" Possibility thinking asks the "get ready to get going" question, "How can I make it happen?"

Possibility thinking puts wings and legs on positive ideas.

"If It's Going to Be, It's Up to Me: The Eight Proven Principles of Possibility Thinking" by Robert H. Schuller

But at the heart and soul of both positive and possibility thinking is the same powerful optimism. Optimism is the all-empowering attitude that unfailingly delivers the energy to:

Start
Stay with it, or
Bounce back and start over again after disappointments.

Einstein's Formula for Success by Ron White

Albert Einstein had a formula for success. Can you believe that? One of the greatest minds of all time developed a math formula for success! I suggest you read this carefully -- this may be the most important math equation that you will ever see.

Einstein said, 'If A equals success, then the formula is: A=X+Y+Z.

X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut."

Einstein no doubt had an excellent sense of humor. Let's look at the 3 variables in this equation.

They are:

1. Work
2. Play
3. Keeping your mouth shut!

1. Work: Albert Einstein had a tremendous work ethic and because of that gave more to society and modern science than any person in recent times

2. Play: Einstein, however, did not work 24 hours a day and made time for fun and relaxation. His idea of fun may have been different than yours, but that doesn't mean it still wasn't play.

3. Keeping your mouth shut: Finally, my favorite part of his success formal is to keep your mouth shut. I genuinely believe that the person who talks the least says the most. A friend of mine complains that the woman he is dating talks too much. I don't know how to break the news to him; however, the problem is not that she talks too much. It simply is the fact that he is irritated that he isn't able to talk. Now, let me just say this is not a generic man and woman statement. I am speaking about a specific person that I know. His desire is to constantly talk and because he likes to talk so much, he will talk in circles. If you let him talk long enough he will repeat the same thing three times and then contradict himself. His desire is not to hear but to be heard.

Albert Einstein, on the other hand had nothing to prove. He felt no need to be the "Chatty Cathy" he could have been with his knowledge. It wasn't important to him to talk to everyone he met and talk over their heads to demonstrate his IQ. Instead, he learned the value of quietness and solitude.

Shift your mind set from being a talker to a listener. It has been said that you can make more friends in 5 minutes by becoming interested in others than you can make in 5 years of trying to get others interested in you! How do you become interested in others? You ask questions and then keep your mouth shut!

"Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish"

Steve Jobs, CEO and co-founder of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios encourages us to pursue our dreams and opportunities by sharing with us his life story.

In this video, he shared 3 stories and the key learning points.

Connecting the Dots

Steve was dropped out of college as he was not sure what he interested in. Since he was a drop-out, he only took those courses that he is interested in and one of the courses was calligraphy and typography was part of the course. Ten years later when he was designing the first Macintosh computer, he applied what he learnt for typography and thus he was the first person who introduced typography in personal computer.

Lesson: You can only connect the dots backward, not forward. Follow your heart and the dots will connect you to your future.

Love and Lost

Steve was the co-founder of Apple Computer and Apple grew steadily to a $2 billion business. But Apple’s board of directors fired him due to the conflict of opinions. To Steve, he saw his termination as a blessing as it freed him and allowed his creativity to flow. He formed two companies – NeXT and Pixar Animation Studios. Apple Computer bought NeXT and Steve went back to Apple Computer. Pixar Animation Studios grew very successfully after its first animation movie "Toy Story"

Lesson: Life will hit you with a brick but do not lose faith. You got to find what you love. Only do what you believe is good work. Keep looking, do not settle. It will get better and better.

Death

Almost everything will fall away in the face of death. Remember that since you are going to die, you will not fear that you have something to lose. Death is a destination we all share. Your time is limited and don’t waste your time away. Follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want, other things else are only secondary.

Lesson: “If today is the last day of your life, will you want to do what you are about to do today?” “Stay hungry, Stay foolish.”

One Step That Makes The Difference!

At 211 degrees...water is hot.
At 212 degrees...it boils.
And with boiling water, comes steam.
And steam can power a locomotive.
And, it’s that one extra degree that...
Makes all the difference.

Best-selling author Mac Anderson declares that the 212° concept is one of the most powerful communication ideas he has experienced in his 30 years as an entrepreneur.

So many times, in business and in life, it’s that one extra degree of effort that separates the good from the great.

What is fantastic about the 212° idea is that you can use it to fit your own needs. It may be 212° service that you’d like to reinforce, or 212° attitude, leadership, or quality. Or maybe, you’ll choose to build your entire culture around the 212° concept...to differentiate you from your competition.

The real beauty of 212° is the simplicity of the idea. Once explained...everybody gets it. And once you get it...it’s hard to forget!

Rich Dad's Increase Your Financial IQ: Get Smarter with Your Money by Robert Kiyosaki

This book focus on the five key financial IQs to help us get smarter with our money. The five financial IQs are: -

- Making More Money

- Protecting Your Money

- Budgeting Your Money

- Leveraging Your Money

- Improving Your Financial Information

1) Making More Money

Emotional intelligence is essential to financial intelligence. Many people are unable to make more money as they can't live without instant gratification. Furthermore, instead of taking on new challenge and learning, they play it safe and stick to what they know. The higher a person's financial IQ, the less he works while acquiring more and better quality assets.

2) Protecting Your Money

Financial IQ #2 measures the % of income a person keeps against the % of income financial predators take. Working for earned income does not allow for much protection from taxes.

3) Budgeting Your Money

Increasing income, rather than reducing expenses, is a better way to solve the problem of a budget deficit. Spend time, money and energy to increase your income. Don't cut back on expenses. Budgeting your money is measured in % of income that reaches your asset column.

4) Leveraging Your Money

Leverage makes your money work harder for you by using other people's money and if you have high financial IQ #3, you can pay less and less in taxes. If an investor lacks the financial intelligence to control the investment, the use of leverage is very risky.

5) Improving Your Financial Information

Information is the single greatest asset of this era. It is not the asset that makes you rich, it is information and intelligence that makes you rich.

The integrity of all 5 intelligences is required if a person wants to grow rich, stay rich. If people want to become rich, they need to find an environment that allows them to develop and apply their genius.

For more details, please read the book "Rich Dad's Increase Your Financial IQ: Get Smarter with Your Money" by Robert Kiyosaki

How to Buy, Sell and Profit on eBay By Adam Ginsberg

There are many opportunities out there that help you to get rich and eBay is one of the many options that will help you.

One advantage about eBay is that it is a trusted online marketplace where many customers are willing to part their money. eBay is a very trustworthy source for both buyers and sellers, so both buyers and sellers have very high confidence when they do business in eBay.

eBay is a useful channel for sellers as well as we can sell almost anything in eBay, even houses and cars.

eBay is a very easy tool for everybody to use. There are online tutorials in eBay that guide you step by step how to buy and sell online.

If you want to be very successful online, you can read this book "How to Buy, Sell and Profit on eBay" by Adam Ginsberg. Be A Kung Fu Panda =)

Recently, I went to watch Kungfu Panda the Movie. Since it is a cartoon, it attracted quite a number of children to the movie. During the one and a half hour movie, the whole cinema was filled with laughter, not only from the kids but from the adults as well. This is a very good movie that is worth to watch. A movie that brings you laughter, temporary removes you from your problems and most importantly, there are lessons to learn.

Panda helps his dad selling noodles where there are a lot of customers patronizing the stall. It is his dad’s dream to sell the best noodles to his customers and his dad wants Panda to take over his business. But Panda is not keen in selling noodles. He is very keen in Kungfu. It is always his dream to learn Kungfu and be a Kungfu Master.

By chance, Panda is chosen to be the Dragon Warrior by Master Wu Gui (Turtle). Master ShiFu (Mouse) and his five disciples feel that Panda does not make the mark to be the Dragon Warrior. They always believe that Master Wu Gui makes a wrong decision to choose Panda over the five disciples.

They always make snide remarks saying that Panda does not make it. It is just “by accident” that Panda was the Chosen One. Because of all these negative comments, Panda is disheartened and feel that he does not make the mark too, “I am just a fat panda that does not know Kungfu.”

Seeing that Panda is so unhappy, Master Wu Gui gives a word of advice to Panda.

“Yesterday is History; Tomorrow is Mystery; Today is the Gift. And that is why it is called The Present”. Master Wu Gui tells Panda to forget what others had said and he should not have no confidence in himself being the Chosen One since tomorrow is mystery. What is most important for Panda is train himself up to be the Dragon Warrior – Always believe in himself that he can make it. So with continuous training, Panda gets better and better.

One day, the worst have happened. One of the prisoners – Tai Lung (leopard) escaped from prison wanting to steal the Secret Dragon Scroll. Master ShiFu feels that it is time for Panda to see the Secret Dragon Scroll and learns the techniques so that Panda can protect the animals from Tai Lung and bring peace to the country.

However, when Panda opens the Dragon scroll, it is blank, totally blank. Both Panda and Master ShiFu don’t understand why it is blank. Since it is blank, Panda worries that he can’t win Tai Lung. Sensing his worries, Master ShiFu asks Panda to bring the Dragon scroll with him and leave together with the rest of the animals and he will fight with Tai Lung alone.

When Panda goes back to his dad, his dad is very happy that Panda decided to help him in his noodles stall again. But Panda told his dad that he can’t be a good cook as his dad as he doesn’t have the secret recipe which his dad has. His dad told him that actually his secret recipe is “absolutely nothing”. It is just a common noodles dish. The reason why he has a lot of customers because he believes in himself and it is his dream to serve the best noodles to his customers.

It then dawns on Panda that the Secret Dragon scroll is blank because there is actually no Secret of Kungfu. Panda just needs to believe in himself and fight with Tai Lung and true enough, Panda won.

Tai Lung is very disappointed that he spends so many years training up, just wanting to get the Secret Dragon scroll and he also killed so many animals who stopped him from getting the scroll and yet end of the day, what he is striving for is “absolutely nothing”.

Lessons learnt from this movie is that Tai Lung is a character that commonly represents some of the people in society. Some people use unscrupulous method to get what they want, but end of the day, what they achieved is not what they expect to get and worse still, they actually “hurt” a few others to get what they want. Eventually, they themselves hurt the most.

From Panda, we also learnt not to give up our dreams. We should keep pushing ourselves higher and higher to achieve what we want. Even though through the journey, we may meet some obstacles, but if we believe in ourselves, we will definitely achieve our dreams in the near future.

“Believe in Yourself and Never Give Up Your Dreams. Be the Dragon Warrior of Your Life.”

Robert and Kim Kiyosaki are coming to Singapore in 2009!

Robert Kiyosaki is a household name in the financial market. For those of you who always read financial books, he is one of the popular authors whose books are always the bestsellers. The book that brought him to fame is "Rich Dad, Poor Dad".

Robert Kiyosaki has two dads. His real dad who is the poor dad and his best friend's dad is his rich dad. Through these two dads, he gains the insight of the importance of money and how to make money works for him.

Below is the abstract of what Robert Kiyosaki had learnt from his two dads and how it helped him to achieve what he has today.

One of my dads is a multi-millionaire. The other is a poor man. Why? Very simply, it comes down to their respective attitudes toward money and life. Take a look at the differences... and think about where you fit...

Poor Dad vs. Rich Dad

My Poor Dad Says, "My house is an asset."

My Rich Dad Says, "My house is a liability."

Rich dad says, "If you stop working today, an asset puts money in your pocket and a liability takes money from your pocket. Too often people call liabilities assets. It's important to know the difference between the two.

My Poor Dad Says, "I can't afford it."

My Rich Dad Says, "How can I afford it?"

The statement "I can't afford it" shuts down your thinking. By asking the right question, you mind opens up and looks for answers.

My Poor Dad Says, "The reason I'm not rich is because I have you kids."
My Rich Dad Says, "The reason I must be rich is because I have you kids."

My Poor Dad Says, "I'm not interested in money."

My Rich Dad Says, "Money is power."

My Poor Dad Says, "When it comes to money, play it safe - don't take risks."

My Rich Dad Says, "Learn how to manage risk."

My Poor Dad Says, "Pay myself last."
My Rich Dad Says, "Pay myself first."

Rich Dad always took a percentage off the top of any income he earned. He put this money into an investment account that went toward purchasing his assets. Poor Dad spent all his money first and never had any remaining for investments.

My Poor Dad Says, "Believed that the company you worked for or the government should take care of your financial needs."

My Rich Dad Says, "Believed in financial self-reliance and financial responsibility."

My Poor Dad Says, "Focused only on academic literacy."

My Rich Dad Says, "Focused on financial literacy as well as academic literacy."

My Poor Dad Says, "Learned only the vocabulary of academia."

My Rich Dad Says, "Learned the vocabulary of finance – "Your words are the most valuable tools you have."

My Poor Dad Says, "I work for my money."

My Rich Dad Says, "My money works for me."

My Poor Dad Says, "Thought that making more money would solve his financial problem."

My Rich Dad Says, "Knew that financial education was the answer to his financial problems: "It's not how much money you make that's important – it's how much money you keep and how long you keep it."

Understanding the difference in attitudes between rich dad and poor dad – is essential to taking the first steps to financial freedom.

For a comprehensive look at how to battle the Poor Dad mentality and adopt the Rich Dad state of mind, learn more from Robert and Kim Kiyosaki and they will help you on your journey to financial freedom.

Robert and Kim Kiyosaki will be in Singapore on 26 and 27 May 2009. Mark Your Calendar and start saving to attend the seminar! Visit Success Resources website to be updated on the price and sales of the tickets!

Here you will find commemorative plagues, sculptures, movie memorabilia and much more in this great tribute to the stars of the silver screen.

Hong Kong's Disneyland

Immerse yourself in the storybook world of Fantasy land, embark on daring exploits in Adventure land, explore fascinating futurscapes in Tomorrow land and travel back in time to a small town America with a visit to Main Street USA.

There are magical experiences around every corner, like inspiring Broadway-style shows, dazzling fireworks displays, thrilling rides and exciting parades.

One personal comment about Hong Kong Disneyland is that if you had been to USA and Tokyo's Disneyland, then Hong Kong Disneyland can be a disappointment. One thing is that Hong Kong's Disneyland is simply too small. You can tour around the whole place with less than half a day excluding the rides you take. Hong Kong Disneyland is more for very young kids as the rides are really very kiddy rides, there are no thrilling rides at all. Service standards is very low, you won't get to experience the "wow" feeling when you visit Hong Kong Disneyland. They are unable to make you feel the magical experience that Disneyland promises.

Ocean Park

Ocean Park is one of the Southeast Asia's largest aquariums and theme parks. See amazing animals including exotic birds and sea creatures ranging from dolphins and sea lions to sharks and jellyfish.

There are also heart-stopping adventure rides and rides with a dazzling simulated experience for you who enjoy thrills. Not forgetting Sky Fair, a thrilling balloon ride where you can soar more than 100m into the air for a breathtaking view of the majestic south side of Hong Kong.

Stanley Market / Murray House/ Hong Kong Maritime Museum

Stanley is world famous for its relaxed ambience, sea environs and bargain buys in the main street market. Visitors can stroll along the promenade beside the adjacent Waterfront Mart to enjoy the beautiful sea view. This leads to Murray House, an 1846 colonial building originally located in Central, that was restored in Stanley in 1998. Blake Pier, another colonial relic from Central, was rebuild nearby to complement the architecture style. Murray House now contains Hong Kong Maritime Museum and restaurants.

Repulse Bay

This crescent-shaped strand of sand is one of the most beautiful beaches in Hong Kong. Adjacent to the beach is an ornate Chinese pavilion with two 10m tall statues of traditional Chinese deities Kwan Yin and Tin Hau. The nearby Repulse Bay complex, built in colonial style, offers upmarket shopping and dining.

The Apprentice by Donald Trump is back!

Hi everybody,

The long awaiting "The Apprentice" 4th season is back!

So who is the strong contestant who will eventually become Donald Trump's Apprentice in this season?

Who will be fired by Donald Trump?

Will the contestants work together as a team and win the weekly task?

Or will they keep breathing down each other's back and can't wait to kick each other out of the game?

Watch "The Apprentice" on Channel 5, every Sunday at 11pm to find out the answer!

To make this season even more exciting than the previous season, there are some changes to the rules of the game. The project leader will continue to be the project leader for the next project if his / her team wins. The winning project leader will also have a chance to be in the boardroom to witness the "cat fight" of the losing team and give his / her opinion to Mr. Donald Trump who should be fired. This is where strategy comes into play where you get to decide whether you want a stronger opponent in the losing team to win or go since they are your competitors. The winning team will also get to live in Donald Trump's new mansion in L.A while the losing team will sleep outside in the makeshift tents in the garden with no power supply.

So ... ...

"Are you game enough to be the next apprentice?"

"It's nothing personal, it's just business."

Pay attention to the lyrics. Very meaningful and creative lyrics with a very catchy tune. The cantonese lyrics add more spice to this great song.

48 hours of time

Everybody is running with time. Seconds gone, minutes gone, hours gone, days gone, months gone, years gone ... Time simply just won't stop for us.

The pace of living is getting faster and faster. Everyone is working 8 hours a day officially, but unofficially, everyone is working late. One hour become two hours, two hours become three hours. Basically everyone is working more than 8 hours a day, or our working place becomes the home for us where we spend most of our time.

Is this situation unavoidable in a country who keeps growing?

Can we really balance both our working life and personal life?

Do we really need to sacrifice our personal life for our work?

Is this really worth it?

Why our bosses go home earlier than us? Why are we the ones who always stay back to clear our work?

Is our bosses smarter than us? Or just that they know how to delegate the tasks to their staff?

No matter where you work, this is a situation where it is unavoidable and is common.

When you go for interview, the interviewer will definitely ask you, "Are you prepared to work late?" or they will just tell you straight in the face that the job is demanding and requires commitment.

Does working late means that you are committed?

Working late implies working experiences? Is this what experience is all about?

No matter what, all of us only have 24 hours a day. No matter how committed we are in our job, we only have 24 hours a day. One hour of working late means one hour lesser for your personal life.

So career is more important? Or personal life is more important?

time is the ONLY resources that is too LIMITED!

Don't waste your TIME!

time is RUNNING OUT!

The Only Certainty is Uncertainty

Last week, I am being bombarded with two shocking news that are related to the company that I am working in. Due to the sensitivity of the issue on hand, I shall not mention what is the news about. But these news made me realised that changes are the only constant in this business world and business world is so practical and realistic that we are only keen in dollars and cents and when one cannot work, we have no choice but let it go. This explains the term "Only the strongest will survive" very well.

With these changes in hand, nobody will know whether it is a better move or not. Only time can tell the answer. We can only hope for the best.

2008 seems to be a gloomy year for us. Economy is not so good. Every day we are bombarded with negative news. Stocks prices are dropping like crazy. Cost of living is getting higher but pay increment is very little.

"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going".

Hopefully we would get stronger when we are facing tough environment, tough situation, demanding boss, etc.

This reminds me of a channel 5 show that i have been watching. It is "Hell Kitchen" on every Friday at 12am.

This is a competition where contestants will compete with each other in cooking. The winner will get to work in a very high class billions worth restaurant and become a chef. There are two competitions in every episode - one is for individual and one is for group. For group, you actually work in the restaurant and cooked for patrons in real setting. The kitchen is a open concept where patrons can see the chefs in action.

What is so shocking about this show is that the chef who is testing the contestants. He is a very demanding and bad tempered chef. When the contestants make any mistake, he will just scream and scold the contestants in front of the patrons. When the food they prepare are not up to standard, he will just throw away the food and ask the contestants to prepare again. When the patrons wait for too long and start complaining to the chef, the chef will keep pushing the contestants to be faster and faster and this adds more stress to the contestants. When a few contestants fail to meet his standards and make him fuming mad, he will just stop the whole kitchen operations and stop serving the patrons.

He is just like a boss from "hell".

Maybe we should have such bosses too, so that we can "wake up" from our sleep and become a better and smarter employee instead.

Hmmm ... Maybe ... Hehe

So remember to watch the show, Hell's Kitchen on channel 5 at 11pm!

You will feel very blessed that your boss is not like that!

Attached is some of the highlights from Hell's Kitchen.
