Is Your Life Full of Why?

Recently, my friend had mentioned to me that "Life is so boring, so monotonous. Time just passed day by day, week by week. The things that we did are like a routine. Life is so boring."

The other day, my GM had said to me, "We must do planning. We can't do things at the last moment. We must be proactive rather than reactive."

These two incidents struck a common cord even though one is talking about personal life while the other one is talking about work.

Regardless it is personal life or work, the very first question we need to ask ourselves is, "What do I want to accomplish?" Do you want to be successful in your career, your family ties or your love for helping other people?

The second question is to ask yourself, "What am I going to do? What am I willing to do continuously?" If you want to be successful in your career, what is your guideline in being successful? What position do you want to reach? What are you going to do to reach that position?"

The third question is to ask yourself, "What are the skills, experience, character or qualifications do I need to have to achieve my goals?" Regardless of what you lack of, you need time to build on it. This does not happen overnight. You need to go through a process to achieve what you want.

With a plan in place, you need to carry out your plan accordingly and do necessary adjustments to move toward your goal. A plan without action is equal to no reaction, no results. Success doesn't happen overnight. It is through continuous action then you will be able to move slowly toward your goal.

Whatever you want to achieve, it lies in your hand. Nobody can control what you want to achieve. If you are determined to get something and ask for it, people will give you what you want rather than you hope people will give you what you hope to have.

It is always the first step that is the hardest. So take some time today and ask yourself "Why?" Your reason "Why" to achieve your goals will determine your success or failure in achieving your goal. So remember, your "Why" must be unshakable and intensified. So strong that nothing can stop you achieving what you want in your life.

If you like to find out more about this topic so that you can be better day by day and find life to be more meaningful, you can check this book out. Its title is "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People By Stephen Covey". As the name implies, there are seven habits that one must follow. The seven habits are "Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win/Win, Seek First to Understand, then be Understood, Synergize and last but not least, Sharpen the Saw."

After you finished reading this book, you can proceed to read "The 8th Habit By Stephen Covey". The 8th habit is on leadership and tells you how do you influence others as well, to take a more proactive approach to take charge of one's life or one's job.

Hope that you find these two books useful and enjoy reading.

7 Secrets to Success by Brian Tracy

There are seven essential principles that you must practice as an entrepreneur throughout your business life if you are to achieve maximum success. They have been taught and repeated in thousands of books and articles over the years, and here they are.

1. Clarity: You must be absolutely clear on who you are and what you want. You need written goals and plans for every part of your life. As Zig Ziglar would say, you must become a “meaningful specific” rather than a “wandering generality.”
Begin with your values. What do you believe in and stand for? What is most important to you in life? What would you pay for, fight for, suffer for and die for? What do you really care about? Someone once wrote, “Until you know exactly what you would do if you only had one hour left to live, you are not prepared to live.”
What is your vision for yourself and your future? What is your vision for your family and your finances? What is your vision for your career and your company? Peter Drucker once wrote, “Even if you are starting your business on a kitchen table, you must have a vision of becoming a world leader in your field, or you will probably never be successful.”
What is your mission for your business? What is it that you want to accomplish for your customers? What is it that you want to do to improve the lives and work of the people you intend to serve with your products and services? You need a clear vision and an inspiring mission to motivate yourself and others to do the hard work necessary to achieve business success.
What is your purpose for your life and your business? Why do you get up in the morning? What is your reason for being? And here’s a great question: What do you really want to do with your life?
Finally, what are your goals? What do you want to accomplish in your financial life? What are your family goals? What are your health goals? What difference do you want to make in the lives of others? And here is the best question: What would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail?
The greater clarity you have regarding each of these issues--values, vision, mission, purpose and goals--the greater the probability that you will accomplish something wonderful with your life.

2. Competence: To be truly successful and happy, you must be very good at what you do. You must resolve to join the top 10 percent in your field. You must make excellent performance of the business task your primary goal and then dedicate all your energies to doing quality work and offering quality products and services.
To be successful in business, according to Jim Collins, author of Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap . . . and Others Don’t, you must find a field that satisfies three requirements. First, it must be something for which you have a passion—something you really believe in and love to do. Second, it must be an area where you have the potential to be the best, to be better than 90 percent of the people in that field. Third, it must involve a product or service that can be profitable and enable you to achieve all your financial goals.
According to the Harvard Business School, the most valuable asset a company can develop is its reputation. Your reputation is defined as “how you are known to your customers.” And the most important reputation you can have revolves around the quality of the products and services you offer and the quality of the people who deliver those services and interact with those customers.

3. Constraints: Between you and your goal, whatever it is, there will always be a constraint or limiting factor. Your ability to identify the most important factor that determines the speed at which you achieve your business goals is essential to your success.
The 80/20 rule applies to constraints in your business. Fully 80 percent of the reasons that you are not achieving your goals as quickly as you want will be within yourself. Only 20 percent will be contained in external circumstances or people.
What are your constraints? What holds you back? What sets the speed at which you achieve your goals? And what one thing could you do immediately to begin alleviating your main constraint? This is often the key to rapid progress.

4. Creativity: The essence of successful business is innovation. This is the ability to find faster, better, cheaper, easier ways to produce and deliver your products and services.
Fortunately, almost everyone is a “potential genius.” You have more intelligence and ability than you could ever use. Your job is to unleash this creativity and focus it, like a laser beam, on removing obstacles, solving problems and achieving your goals.
The essence of creativity is contained in your ability to solve the inevitable problems and difficulties of business life. Colin Powell said, “Leader-ship is the ability to solve problems.” Success is the ability to solve problems. And remember: A goal unachieved is merely a problem unsolved.
The way of the successful entrepreneur is to focus on the solution rather than the problem. Focus on what is to be done rather than what has happened or who is to blame. Concentrate all your attention on finding a solution to any obstacle that is holding you back from the sales and profitability you desire. And the more you think about solutions, the more solutions you will think of. You will actually feel yourself getting smarter by focusing all your energies on what you can do to continually improve your situation.

5. Concentration: Your ability to concentrate single-mindedly on the most important thing and stay at it until it is complete is an essential prerequisite for success. No success is possible without the ability to practice sustained concentration on a single goal or task, in a single direction.
The simplest way to learn to concentrate is to make a list for each day before you begin. Then prioritize the list by putting the numbers 1 through 10 next to each item. Once you have determined your most important task, immediately begin to work on that task. Discipline yourself to continue working until that top task is 100 percent complete. When you make a habit of doing this--starting and completing your most important tasks each day--you will double or triple your productivity and put yourself solidly on the way to wealth.

6. Courage: Winston Churchill once wrote, “Courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it, all others depend.” It takes tremendous courage to take the entrepreneurial risks necessary to become wealthy. In study after study, experts have concluded it is the courage to take the “first step” that makes all the difference. This is the courage to launch in the direction of your goals, with no guarantee of success. Most people lack this.
Once you have begun your entrepreneurial journey, you also need the courage to persist. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “All great successes are the triumph of persistence.”
The word entrepreneur means “one who undertakes the risks of a new ven-ture in pursuit of profit.” Fully 90 percent of the population will never have sufficient courage to launch a new venture, to start a new business, to boldly go where no one has gone before. You need, first of all, the courage to begin, to move out of your comfort zone in the direction of your goals and dreams, even though you know you will experience many problems, difficulties and temporary failures along the way.
Second, you need the courage to endure, to hang in there, to persist in the face of all adversity until you finally win. When you develop these twin qualities--the ability to step out in faith and then to persist resolutely in the face of all difficulties--your success is guaranteed.

7. Continuous Action: Perhaps the most outwardly identifiable quality of a successful person is that he or she is in continuous motion. The entrepreneur is always trying new things and, if they don’t work, trying something else. It turns out that most entrepreneurs achieve their success in an area completely different from what they had initially expected. But because they continually reacted and responded constructively to change, trying new methods, abandoning activities that didn’t work, picking themselves up after every defeat and trying once more, they eventually won out.
Top people, especially entrepreneurs, seem to have these three qualities. First, they learn more things. Second, they try more things. Third, they persist longer than anyone else. The good news is that, because of the law of probabilities, if you learn more things, try more things and persist longer, you dramatically increase the probability that you will succeed greatly. If you launch toward your goal and resolve in advance to never give up, your success is virtually guaranteed.

The Ultimate Reward
My friend Jim Rohn once said, “The greatest reward in becoming a millionaire is not the amount of money that you earn. It is the kind of person that you have to become to become a millionaire in the first place.”
To have more, you must first be more. For you to set out on the way to wealth and become a self-made entrepreneurial millionaire, you will have to develop many qualities at a higher level than you ever have before. You will have to become an exceptional person. You will have to become more than you ever imagined possible for you.
To realize your full potential and achieve all your financial goals in your own business, you must develop the virtues of integrity, courage and persistence to a much higher level than you have up to now. You will have to practice the qualities of clarity, competence, creativity, concentration and continuous action until they are as natural to you as breathing. You will have to accept complete responsibility for your life and everything that happens to you, and especially for the way you think in every area.
When you develop these qualities and become a completely different person, you will eventually achieve all your goals in life, including financial success. The best part of becoming an extraordinary person is that, if something happens and you lose it all, it won’t really matter. Because you have become a different person, you will be able to make it all back again and more, far faster than the first time.

Welcome to The Way to Wealth
You are about to embark on a grand adventure that may last for the rest of your working lifetime. But if you have the courage to begin and the persistence to endure, nothing can hold you back from achieving all your goals and dreams. If you decide that, no matter what, you will never give up, you will eventually become unstoppable.

Action Plan
Take these steps to get going on your business goals.
Decide exactly what you want in life in each area, and write it down. Make your goals clear, specific and measurable.
Specify the most important skill you could develop to move you into the top 10 percent of people in your field. Then do something immediately to begin developing that skill.
Identify the major constraint or limiting factor inside yourself or in your world that is setting the speed at which you achieve your most important goal, and begin working on removing that constraint today.
Determine your single biggest problem or obstacle in your business or personal life. Then focus all your time and attention on the possible solutions.
Make a list of what you would want to be, do and have if you had no limitations and you were absolutely guaranteed success.
Accept complete responsibility for your life. From this day forward, refuse to make excuses or blame anyone for anything. Instead, take action to make your goals a reality.
Reaffirm and visualize your goals of financial success, excellent health and personal happiness as a reality. Remember, the person you see is the person you will be.

So What are YOU going to do NOW?

Take a look at the above photo. What is your first impression of this cactus? I guess many of you will say it is brightly coloured, beautiful, prickly, lonely, unfriendly or strong. These are the common characteristics of a cactus. Cactus grows in dry areas and because of its environment, it does not have gorgeous flowers to beautify its look. What it has is only pricks covering itself to help itself to restore water in its body so that it can survive in the dry areas. So if you look at cactus alone, it looks good in its own way without any comparison to other plants and flowers. But not many people will been keen to buy cactus to beautify their homes because of their prickly body. Thus this gives people impression that it is strong but unfriendly and lonesome.

Now take a look at the below photo. Now what is your first impression? I guess many of you will go 'wow' and say it is an amazing and impressive sight to view. Alone, by itself, a cactus is nothing interesting. But if you put together a whole colony of same family of cactus, it will actually make people to stop by and take a look at them and take lots of photos of them.

And if you put together a whole colony of different family of cactus, it is not only become a sight but scenery, a form of art to look at that make people actually talk and discuss about the cactus - how colorful it is, how it is being grown, how many variety are there, etc.

So how are all these cactus related to the title of this blog?

This actually implies TEAMWORK. Teamwork in the family, school, company, organization, etc.

Alone by yourself, you are an unique individual in this world. You have your own strengths and weaknesses that are viewed by others. Just like a cactus by itself looks nice and beautiful but prickly, lonely and strong. By yourself, you may not be able to achieve much as you have your own capabilities and limitations.

When you cooperate with your teammates regardless of the type of organizations you are in, then you find it easier to achieve your common goals. The whole colony of same family of cactus is just like the staff working in the same department. The staff will have common goal to achieve working in that department. If they work together without too much focus on self interest, then they can accomplish much more and faster in achieving the department's goals.

The whole colony of different family of cactus together is just like the staff working in different departments in the company. By achieving their departments' goals and cooperating with one another, they will achieve their company's goals very fast and efficiently and at the end of the day, you yourself will get to benefit too.

So what are YOU going to do NOW? Do you still want to be the lone ranger who may not even achieve your own goals by yourself? or do you want to work with your teammates to achieve department and company's goals and ultimately, you yourself gain too? The answer lies in your heart. Always understand that "No Man is an Island".

I took all these photos at the recent Singapore Garden Festival where you get to see lots of garden landscaping, plants, flowers and not forgetting orchids, since Singapore is famous for their orchids. Below are some of other photos I took for you to enjoy.

"Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve" by Napoleon Hill

Recently, somebody made this comment, "We are not going to be millionaires, anyway."

Because of this statement, it suddenly brought me back to the past and helped me recalled what I had learnt through the books and seminars I went.

Like what the subject title I put in this post, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve."

Our minds are very powerful source of creation. Look at how the world has changed. From the era where our ancestors who were the cavemen and hunt for animals, and to the present era where we live in high rise buildings and use technology-driven equipments, all these happened because of our great powerful minds.

Similarly, if you want to gain financial freedom and be a millionaire, of course you can achieve it if you believe in yourself. If you want to help as many people as possible, of course you can achieve it too. Just like in the movie "Pay it forward" where the small boy wanted to help as many people as possible, so when the person who received his help and wanted to pay him back his kindness, he would tell that person that the person can in turn help another person as a form a paying it back to the small boy. This is why the movie is called "Pay it forward".

Like what Mr. Anthony Robbins had said, "You must believe in yourself and tell yourself that you can achieve what you want to achieve. From there, you actually do up a blueprint and set small goals in order to achieve this big goal. You set yourself a deadline to achieve these small goals and think of the strategy in order to achieve these small goals. If the strategy doesn't work, change the strategy and keep on improvising it. Most importantly, don't give up on your goals and dreams.

But definitely, there will be people out there who said, "It is easier than to be done. Life is more difficult than what you picture," and lots of other excuses. Some even blame on others or luck for their failure.

All these people belong to the category which Mr. Robert Kiyosaki has termed as, "The Losers". The losers are those people who give up once they failed and some don't even do anything at all and all they do are sitting down there and keep on whining and whining, complaining and complaining and they do absolutely NOTHING to improve themselves and be a better person.

If you are determined to achieve what you want in your life, and you find that you may be surrounded by some of these losers, please don't let them influence you and allow them to pull you down. Like what Mr. Adam Khoo has said, "Let them go and die and we have less competition." Hehehe. This is a humorous way to encourage us not to give up and don't let all these negative influences affecting us.

So if you keen to improve yourself and lead a better life, you can go to the major bookstores or library to read those books by those famous people I mentioned in this post.

Always with this in mind, "Whatever you have in your mind, it lasts forever. Nobody can take it away from you. Those material things that you own and wear, people can take it away from you. So please spend some quality time by yourself and read the books by these people and lead a fulfilling life of your own."

I have attached a link where it is actually a video clip of Mr. Anthony Robbins's Seminar -- Date with Destiny.

This seminar took place when 911 incident happened in USA. Through this clip, you can actually see how Mr Anthony Robbins helped those people who attended his seminar at that time when the incident happened and how he helped them cope with the lost of their families and friends at that split second. In particularly, Mr. Anthony Robbins actually chose two participants - one who thought he wants to be a terrorist and one experienced the pain of terrorism, and you would get to see how Mr. Anthony Robbins helped these two men aligned their goals and helped them to achieve their greater self. Generally speaking, he helped all these people to cope with crisis and challenges -- to portray leadership in time of crisis.

With this clip, you would get to learn a lot of things. I shall not elaborate more. You should go and see it yourself and learnt by yourself. Most importantly, please don't wait till you are free and watch the clip, as I don't know when this website will be removed. If you go and check out the prices of all those DVD's of those seminar clips of Mr. Anthony Robbins, it actually cost a few hundreds dollars. Now you can actually watch it for free, therefore please grab hold of this opportunity and don't let it slip by. This clip helps to transform yourself. After watching this clip, you realize that your life, from this moment onwards, have changed and life will not be the same anymore. Life will be very exciting and colorful for you and you can't wait to change and become a better person and pursue your dreams and goals passionately.

PS: Remember to prepare some tissue papers. This clip is so touching that Mr. Anthony Robbins also shed his tears.

PPSS: For those who never watch Mr. Anthony Robbin's video clip before, please watch the video clip like a baby. What do i mean by a baby? That means you have nothing in your mind, your mind is blank and you are so eager to learn new things from this master -- Mr. Anthony Robbins. If you watch this clip as who you are now, then you will find that you may not learnt anything and instead you will be skeptical in what he is doing. You will say, "It's bullshit."

On top of that, you must picture yourself as a participant of this seminar. Treat it as Mr. Anthony Robbins is talking to you like a friend. Learn to let go of your emotions, mind and your soul and listen to him attentively. This is the ONLY way that you can truely learnt from him.

To end this note, below is what I quoted from Mr. Anthony Robbins:

Now I am the Voice,
I will lead, not follow.
I will believe, not doubt.
I will create, not destroy.
I am a Force for Good.
I am a Leader.

Defy the odds!
Set a new standard!
Step Up! Step Up!

"You're Fired!!!" --- N He is Back!!!

"You're fired!!!" -- Do you find this term familiar or unfamiliar?

This term is commonly used by ... ...

Yes, is Him!

Who else but Him!

Nobody else except Him!

He is no other than ... ...

Mr Donald Trump himself!!

And ... ...

The reality show "The Apprentice" is already BACK by POPULAR Demand!

For those of you who never watch any single episodes of this reality show before, let me give you an update of what this show is about.

This is actually a competition where a group of men and women will form two teams. Every week, Mr Donald Trump will give the two teams a project assigned by top big corporation's and MNCs and they need to do a good job within the tight deadlines. As all these top big corporations are well known internationally, definitely they will have very, very high expectations from the two teams and if the winning team's work is good, they may used the team's work and launch it commercially. So we can imagine the amount of stress that the two teams are facing every week.

The winning team will get a reward arranged by Mr Donald Trump such as having dinner in a high class prestigious restaurants, having a casual discussion with famous personalities, or having a helicopter ride, etc.

The losing team will go to the boardroom where they are supposed to convince Mr Donald Trump why they should stay in the game and why their team mate should be fired. From the "fire-fighting" going in among the team members, Mr Donald Trump will decide who should be fired and then he will do his classic move -- with his pointing finger, he will point to that particular team mate and tell the person, "you're fired!"

Sometimes, the show actually reaches its climax when Mr Donald Trump suddenly fired more than one team mates.

So this will continue every week until there is only two contestants left in the show. Mr Donald Trump then assigns a project to each of them that is organized by the Trump Organization. Mr Donald Trump will also assign a team of people to these two contestants and usually this team of people were those who were fired in previous episodes. When the projects were completed, the two contestants will go back to the boardroom where they will convinced Mr Donald Trump to choose them as The Apprentice. The winner who is given the title will be in charge a major project by the Trump Organization and all projects under Trump Organization are major scales and worth millions of dollars. Imagine the prestige and status when one won the title of the Apprentice.

What is so attractive about this show that entice me to try my best to watch it every week when I am not working?

Beside words of wisdom that Mr Donald Trump will advise every week that is related to the projects that the teams are working on, what is most important is when you observe how each team member behaves.

Through each member's behavior, one can actually find a streak of similarity in your working colleagues, your boss and yourself. And through observation, one can learn from others by studying what are the rights and wrongs that they did that led to the success or failure of the project.

From there, you will get to understand what should one do and how should one behave in order to encourage team cohesiveness and encourage the team to strive hard for the common goal of the company.

One can understand different people's personalities as well and aware what should one do when one needs to work with a team mate with such personality.
Though it is just a simple competition, there are a lot of knowledge that can be gained when you think more deeply and be more observant when the game is on.

5 C's = Singapore Dream?

Everyone in Singapore is very familiar with this term - 5 C's. Many people keep pursuing it, some people keep searching for a life partner who owns it and some people keep dreaming about owning it. So what does this 5 C's stand for? It's none other than Cash, Car, Condominium, Country club membership and Credit Card. All these 5 C's represent one thing - status and success.

There was this movie -- "Singapore Dreaming" and it talks about these 5 C's. In this movie, it also added one more C's and that is Coffin. It presents another interesting point of view to us.

We, living in Singapore, keep working very hard to pursue all these material wealth, but we actually sacrifice a lot of things during this process of pursuing and at the end of the day, if we really did achieve these material wealth, are we REALLY HAPPY? Or are we still missing out something in our life? Maybe these things that we miss out in our life are actually the ones that we really value, but because we are blinded by the importance of all these material wealth, we failed to see the true value of life and there are other aspects of life which are equally important as well, besides wealth.

So I decided to come up with my own version of the 5 C's + 1 C's = 6 C's and I hope that this will benefit you and broaden your mindset too.

"Choice + Challenge + Change + Conviction + Consistent = Consequences"

First, you have the CHOICE to decide what you want to achieve in your life. Everybody has their own definition of success. Some define success as in climbing the corporate ladder, some define it as having a loving family, some define it as helping those in need, etc. So you must ask yourself, "What do I want to achieve in my life?" "What is the most important thing in my life that I must have, in order to have a fulfilling life?"

Then, you must set a CHALLENGING goal for yourself. If you define success as in climbing the corporate ladder, then you can set a challenging goal, such as, "I want to be a manager in a year's time, I want to be a senior manager in two year's time, I want to be the general manager in three year's time, etc." Always set a goal with a given timeframe. The goal must be not so easy to achieve and also not too difficult to achieve so that you will work hard to achieve the goal and not give up half way too as the goal is realistic and achievable. The purpose of having a timeframe is to discipline yourself and not keep pushing it till the next day as all of us have the habit of delaying doing the tasks on hand.

After you set the challenging goal, then you must CHANGE. You must change the lifestyle you are having. You must plan your time very carefully and be detail-oriented so that you would not waste any time and you will make full use of your time to pursue your goal. Always change for the better and always keep changing your strategy if it failed and keep pursuing your goal.

Next, you must have the CONVICTION, the willpower to believe that you will succeed and you must succeed. Nobody can help you to achieve except yourself. Therefore, you must have the conviction that You Can DO It without fail!!! If you don't believe in yourself, then nobody will believe in you too and nobody will assist you in moving you toward your goal.

Next, you must CONSISTENTLY and continuously keep working toward your goal. It is all these small steps that you are doing everyday that help you achieve your ultimate goal. This applied to our education too. We spent about 10 years to get the basic foundation right. Without these 10 years of basic education, we will not know our language, mathematics, science, geography, history and others well. It is impossible for us to master everything within a year and this applies to our journey towards our goal too.

Finally, you will see the CONSEQUENCES of all these effort that you put in. The results that you have been hoping for and always working hard for.

With the achievement of this goal that you set for yourself, it is time for you to set another challenging goal for yourself and repeat the whole process. What makes life so interesting and fulfilling is because of all these goals that we set for ourselves.

So what are you waiting for?

Quick go and decide on your goal and make your choice today!!!

"It is not the destination that matters most. What matters most is the journey that we experience during the pursue of the goal. And this is what makes our life so colorful."

"Always REMEMBER, "Don't Give Up!!!"
