Be A Kung Fu Panda =)

Recently, I went to watch Kungfu Panda the Movie. Since it is a cartoon, it attracted quite a number of children to the movie. During the one and a half hour movie, the whole cinema was filled with laughter, not only from the kids but from the adults as well. This is a very good movie that is worth to watch. A movie that brings you laughter, temporary removes you from your problems and most importantly, there are lessons to learn.

Panda helps his dad selling noodles where there are a lot of customers patronizing the stall. It is his dad’s dream to sell the best noodles to his customers and his dad wants Panda to take over his business. But Panda is not keen in selling noodles. He is very keen in Kungfu. It is always his dream to learn Kungfu and be a Kungfu Master.

By chance, Panda is chosen to be the Dragon Warrior by Master Wu Gui (Turtle). Master ShiFu (Mouse) and his five disciples feel that Panda does not make the mark to be the Dragon Warrior. They always believe that Master Wu Gui makes a wrong decision to choose Panda over the five disciples.

They always make snide remarks saying that Panda does not make it. It is just “by accident” that Panda was the Chosen One. Because of all these negative comments, Panda is disheartened and feel that he does not make the mark too, “I am just a fat panda that does not know Kungfu.”

Seeing that Panda is so unhappy, Master Wu Gui gives a word of advice to Panda.

“Yesterday is History; Tomorrow is Mystery; Today is the Gift. And that is why it is called The Present”. Master Wu Gui tells Panda to forget what others had said and he should not have no confidence in himself being the Chosen One since tomorrow is mystery. What is most important for Panda is train himself up to be the Dragon Warrior – Always believe in himself that he can make it. So with continuous training, Panda gets better and better.

One day, the worst have happened. One of the prisoners – Tai Lung (leopard) escaped from prison wanting to steal the Secret Dragon Scroll. Master ShiFu feels that it is time for Panda to see the Secret Dragon Scroll and learns the techniques so that Panda can protect the animals from Tai Lung and bring peace to the country.

However, when Panda opens the Dragon scroll, it is blank, totally blank. Both Panda and Master ShiFu don’t understand why it is blank. Since it is blank, Panda worries that he can’t win Tai Lung. Sensing his worries, Master ShiFu asks Panda to bring the Dragon scroll with him and leave together with the rest of the animals and he will fight with Tai Lung alone.

When Panda goes back to his dad, his dad is very happy that Panda decided to help him in his noodles stall again. But Panda told his dad that he can’t be a good cook as his dad as he doesn’t have the secret recipe which his dad has. His dad told him that actually his secret recipe is “absolutely nothing”. It is just a common noodles dish. The reason why he has a lot of customers because he believes in himself and it is his dream to serve the best noodles to his customers.

It then dawns on Panda that the Secret Dragon scroll is blank because there is actually no Secret of Kungfu. Panda just needs to believe in himself and fight with Tai Lung and true enough, Panda won.

Tai Lung is very disappointed that he spends so many years training up, just wanting to get the Secret Dragon scroll and he also killed so many animals who stopped him from getting the scroll and yet end of the day, what he is striving for is “absolutely nothing”.

Lessons learnt from this movie is that Tai Lung is a character that commonly represents some of the people in society. Some people use unscrupulous method to get what they want, but end of the day, what they achieved is not what they expect to get and worse still, they actually “hurt” a few others to get what they want. Eventually, they themselves hurt the most.

From Panda, we also learnt not to give up our dreams. We should keep pushing ourselves higher and higher to achieve what we want. Even though through the journey, we may meet some obstacles, but if we believe in ourselves, we will definitely achieve our dreams in the near future.

“Believe in Yourself and Never Give Up Your Dreams. Be the Dragon Warrior of Your Life.”

Robert and Kim Kiyosaki are coming to Singapore in 2009!

Robert Kiyosaki is a household name in the financial market. For those of you who always read financial books, he is one of the popular authors whose books are always the bestsellers. The book that brought him to fame is "Rich Dad, Poor Dad".

Robert Kiyosaki has two dads. His real dad who is the poor dad and his best friend's dad is his rich dad. Through these two dads, he gains the insight of the importance of money and how to make money works for him.

Below is the abstract of what Robert Kiyosaki had learnt from his two dads and how it helped him to achieve what he has today.

One of my dads is a multi-millionaire. The other is a poor man. Why? Very simply, it comes down to their respective attitudes toward money and life. Take a look at the differences... and think about where you fit...

Poor Dad vs. Rich Dad

My Poor Dad Says, "My house is an asset."

My Rich Dad Says, "My house is a liability."

Rich dad says, "If you stop working today, an asset puts money in your pocket and a liability takes money from your pocket. Too often people call liabilities assets. It's important to know the difference between the two.

My Poor Dad Says, "I can't afford it."

My Rich Dad Says, "How can I afford it?"

The statement "I can't afford it" shuts down your thinking. By asking the right question, you mind opens up and looks for answers.

My Poor Dad Says, "The reason I'm not rich is because I have you kids."
My Rich Dad Says, "The reason I must be rich is because I have you kids."

My Poor Dad Says, "I'm not interested in money."

My Rich Dad Says, "Money is power."

My Poor Dad Says, "When it comes to money, play it safe - don't take risks."

My Rich Dad Says, "Learn how to manage risk."

My Poor Dad Says, "Pay myself last."
My Rich Dad Says, "Pay myself first."

Rich Dad always took a percentage off the top of any income he earned. He put this money into an investment account that went toward purchasing his assets. Poor Dad spent all his money first and never had any remaining for investments.

My Poor Dad Says, "Believed that the company you worked for or the government should take care of your financial needs."

My Rich Dad Says, "Believed in financial self-reliance and financial responsibility."

My Poor Dad Says, "Focused only on academic literacy."

My Rich Dad Says, "Focused on financial literacy as well as academic literacy."

My Poor Dad Says, "Learned only the vocabulary of academia."

My Rich Dad Says, "Learned the vocabulary of finance – "Your words are the most valuable tools you have."

My Poor Dad Says, "I work for my money."

My Rich Dad Says, "My money works for me."

My Poor Dad Says, "Thought that making more money would solve his financial problem."

My Rich Dad Says, "Knew that financial education was the answer to his financial problems: "It's not how much money you make that's important – it's how much money you keep and how long you keep it."

Understanding the difference in attitudes between rich dad and poor dad – is essential to taking the first steps to financial freedom.

For a comprehensive look at how to battle the Poor Dad mentality and adopt the Rich Dad state of mind, learn more from Robert and Kim Kiyosaki and they will help you on your journey to financial freedom.

Robert and Kim Kiyosaki will be in Singapore on 26 and 27 May 2009. Mark Your Calendar and start saving to attend the seminar! Visit Success Resources website to be updated on the price and sales of the tickets!
